JJ Hahn is premium Barossa Valley wine made from what is now heritage vineyard planted by the Hahn family over several generations. This family settled on their original land in 1846.

JJ Hahn is a unique partnership between vigneron James Hahn and winemaker Rolf Binder .The inaugural vintage was 1997 when two barrels each of aged shiraz and cabernet were made.

Wine

The acclaimed '1914' Shiraz.  Made by Rolf Binder from vines planted in 1914 by Hermann Hahn (great grandfather of James) on the Hahn Homestead property located in the heart of the Barossa Valley between Tanunda and Nuriootpa. A genuine old vine planting such as this is quite rare, hence the unique flavours and seal of authenticity. The 2005 vintage is our latest release.

"The 2005 Shiraz 1914 is similarly styled to the 1928, but with slightly greater depth and concentration. It can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years."

The '1928' Shiraz is an outstanding example of Barossa Valley old vine shiraz, made from vines planted in 1928.Winemaker, Rolf Binder, has crafted an opulently styled red. The wine was kept for 2 years in wood and then bottle aged before release. The 2005 vintage is now available.

"The 2005 Shiraz 1928 is opaque purple-colored with an expressive bouquet of cedar, pencil lead, mineral, violets, tar, blueberry, and blackberry. This is followed by a medium-to full-bodied wine with gobs of ripe fruit, spicy black fruit flavors already exhibiting complexity, a harmonious personality, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Drink it over the next 10-12 years."

Named in honour of Reginald Hahn, fifth generation custodian of the family vineyard and father of James. The 'Reginald' Shiraz Cabernet is a blend of shiraz from the 1914 and 1928 plantings, together with 1979 planted cabernet sauvignon, the result being a full flavoured, well rounded red wine. The 2002 vintage was awarded 92 points by Robert Parker. 2003 vintage available by mail order purchase at only $150 per dozen.
